Lingle soul-searching over civil unions

HONOLULU — Gov. Linda Lingle, who has a civil unions bill on her desk, has been reading about Gov. John A. Burns — a devout Catholic who in 1970 let a bill allowing abortion become law — as she decides whether to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without her signature.
