In just a couple of school presentations so far this year, speakers from the Hawaii Meth Project have discovered that gruesome photos of an extremely painful condition called “meth mouth” send a more vivid anti-crystal methamphetamine message to Hawai'i teenagers than any statistics or warnings from adults.

Within three hours of the quake in the Samoa islands, scientists at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in ‘Ewa Beach were able to determine there was no serious threat to Hawaii.

Two fundraising drives aimed at helping to keep Hawai'i's public libraries open have collected more than $130,000 in less than a month and have already helped to keep one Big Island library from temporarily closing.
