Office of Hawaiian Affairs officials said this afternoon they believe that the Hawaii Supreme Court will return a ruling once again putting a moratorium on the sale of ceded lands, but this time citing only state laws.

Hawaii Attorney General Mark Bennett expects to be asked about the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on ceded lands when he testifies tomorrow on a senate bill that would set up either a preapproval or a disapproval process for the sale or transfer of ceded lands.

"This case should never have gone to the U.S. Supreme Court. Every time we let a Native Hawaiian case go that far in the court system, we remove the decision from where it needs to happen.
