Lingle appoints Miranda as liaison to East Hawai’i
Honoka'a native Marc Miranda has been appointed as Gov. Linda Lingle's liaison to the East Hawai'i community. Miranda will start his duties Jan. 12.
Drainage system work on track to start in April
Work on the drainage system in the makai area of Kaka'ako Waterfront Park is expected to begin in April now that money for the improvements has been released.
Backdoor Shootout will celebrate in park Sunday
Butch Helemano will emcee the opening ceremony for the seventh annual Da Hui Backdoor Shootout, at 10 a.m. Sunday at Ehukai Beach Park. The Shootout's holding period is Jan. 5-15 and the contest will be held at Backdoor Pipeline off Ehukai Beach Park, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on surfing days.
