The estate of Doris Duke aka Shangri La, now houses a museum of Islamic Art. The estate is on oceanfront property near Diamond Head and the house is now owned by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. Flower arrangements from seven schools will fill the Honolulu Hale courtyard in the exhibit “Splendors of Ikebana.” The art of Ikebana is a centuries-old tradition in Japan. Tropical flowers and other indigenous plants from Hawai’i have been incorporated in the art, creating a uniquely Local Style blend. There are demonstrations to watch at 10 a.m. March 25-26.
